Hello, Class of 2023!
Wow! February is already here. It sounds like you are all getting settled into your second semester classes nicely. February is a quick, short month, but there are some good opportunities going on in our school and community. Please take a few minutes to read what’s going on in February. Also, you’ll notice that juniors will be testing quite a bit in March (see Looking Ahead below). You and your parents should be receiving more information about this in the future.
Feb. 17: Parent Teacher Conferences 4-7:30pm
Feb. 18: Professional Development Day (no students)
Feb. 21: President’s Day (no school)
March 3: ASVAB, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, optional test, registration info below
March 8: ACT testing, required for all juniors, at The Monument
March 28-April 8: Smarter Balanced Testing, required for all juniors
Juniors interested in taking or retaking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) can sign up now in the Cobbler Career Center. The final test offered at CHS this year will be on Thursday, March 3rd @ 8am.

Rural Electric Government-in-Action Youth Tour
What: Trip to Washington, D.C. for high school juniors and seniors to learn more about government processes and rural electricity. Parents/guardians must be active members of West River Electric.
When: June 18-24, 2022

Student Convention: South Dakota PHCC at The Lodge in Deadwood February 24-25
Who: For any middle or high school student interested in plumbing, heating, and/or cooling industries.
What: Annual convention that includes speakers, a trade show, and watching a hands-on apprentice competition. If interested, please sign up in the Cobbler Career Center by February 10th.
