All Juniors Take the ACT on March 8th!

On Tuesday, March 8th, ALL juniors will take the ACT test at The Monument at 8:00 am. This is an amazing opportunity to take the ACT at no cost to the student.  Students can discover areas of strength and areas to improve. Students planning to attend college or take dual-enrollment classes, will have their ACT already completed! Attached is a Preparing For The ACT Test booklet with excellent tips to prepare for the ACT. We also have the hard copy version of this booklet in the Career Center. You may also take practice tests in Method Test Prep found in the bottom right-hand corner of the SDMyLife homepage.

We suggest reporting to the Monument between 7:30-7:45 to allow time to get checked in and seated. The test will take approximately 3.5 hours after an additional 30-45 minutes for students to complete the non-test questions. Juniors are excused from classes the entire day.  Make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before. Make sure you have plenty of water and something to eat prior to taking the test.

Course Registration

It’s time to register for senior year classes! You will receive information about course registration in your English class on March 22 or 23. You must register in Skyward by March 31. You will receive a folder that contains your transcript with a recommendation of classes to take.  This will recommend any classes that you may need to retake if you didn’t pass a class. If you have failed a required class, you will need to retake the course next year or in summer school. Summer school information is usually announced in April or May. Remember, you must have 16 credits to be a senior. If you have any questions about registration, please contact your counselor.

You may take dual enrollment courses during the summer of your junior year and during your senior year. We have attached the list of the summer dual enrollment courses available at WDT.  Check out the South Dakota university (Board of Regent schools) summer schedule at dual enrollment.
