Hello CHS Sophomores!

December is here and the end of the first semester is quickly approaching!  We hope you take some time to reflect on your experiences during 2023 and what lies ahead in 2024.  We know you have faced many challenges this year but are proud of all the progress we have seen from our CHS 10th grade class!

As we get closer to winter break, it is important to prepare for semester finals and get caught up on any missing assignments.  Remember, you can always arrange with teachers to come get help in the morning from 7:30-8:20, as well as after-school tutoring in the Library, Mon-Thur, 3:30-5pm.  Use your time wisely during the upcoming holiday break if you have missing work you need to finish!

After we return to school in January, you will only have ONE WEEK before finals!

·         If you have an A in your class by the end of December 15th, you do not need to take the semester test for that class!

·         All your missing work needs to be turned in by the end of the day on January 5th.  (This means you can work on it over the break, but it is due the first week back to school!)

·         Monday, Dec. 11th – Grocery Bag Bingo for students, families, and staff! 5:30pm at the Naasz gym

·         Wednesday, Dec. 13th – GRADTIME (Assembly Schedule)

·         WINTER BREAK – NO SCHOOL Dec. 18-Jan. 1

CHS Winter Gear Drive

CHS Environmental Club is hosting a coat and winter gear drive now until winter break!  Drop off your unwanted and gently used winter clothing to Mrs. Caron’s room – D203, by Dec. 15th.

CHS Grocery Bag Bingo – Dec. 11th at 5:30pm – Naasz gym

Central students, families, and staff are all welcome!  We hope to see you there and win some prizes!

Congratulations to sophomore Kamryn Stauffacher for being selected as a school leader and will be representing CHS at the summer 2024 Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership State Conference!  We truly have some amazing leaders in our 10th grade class!

Many sophomores have asked, “what can I do now to prepare for college?” The best first step is to keep your grades up. Your grade point average (GPA) is used to determine eligibility for admission to college and for certain scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students based on certain criteria, like GPA or other performance (such as athletic or artistic), and they do not have to be paid back.  GPA and ACT scores will also help determine if you are eligible for dual enrollment in your junior and senior year of high school.  So, keep setting your goals appropriately!
