Hello CHS Sophomores!

There is officially less than 1 month of school left!  You have come a long way this year!  Now it is time to focus on your academics and finish the 10th grade strong.  Be sure to check Skyward and see if there is any missing work you may still need to get turned in.  If you are unsure, please check-in with your teachers!

As always, please remember you can always come in for extra help in the mornings starting at 7:30am.  Check-in with your teachers if you need to come up with a plan to schedule extra help in the mornings.  There is still after school tutoring available in the library Monday-Thursday, after school until 5:00pm.

We have an amazing 10th grade class this year and are proud of all of your hard work and accomplishments!

May 3 – last early release Friday of the year!

May 15 – last day to tun in missing work (this may vary from teacher to teacher, so make sure you check with them!)

May 22-24 – FINALS schedule

May 24 – LAST DAY of school for the year!

May 26 – Graduation: 1:30 at the Monument

June 3 – summer school orientation at RCAA

·         ALL STUDENTS are expected to report for their Final Exams on time!  Students must contact their administrator to schedule make-ups.

·         Student-athletes attending contests during finals week must schedule alternate times with teachers to complete their exams.

·         Lunch will be served on campus for those that choose to stay on campus for lunch.

 

To be considered a junior next year, you must have earned 11.0 credits.  Remember – you need 22.0 credits to graduate.  If you have questions about graduation requirements, please make an appointment with your school counselor.

 

Summer school registration is now open through the end of the school year!  If you failed a class freshman year, this would be a great time to retake up to 1.0 credit.

·  l·  Students can earn up to 1.0 credit during summer school.

·         Summer school is FREE!  Must register before the end of the day on May 24th.

·         Dates: June 4-July 11

·         Must attend the in-person orientation on June 3 at one of the following times:

o   10-11am

o   1:30-2:30am

·         Classes are delivered using Edgenuity.

·         Students can do their coursework at home on their laptop.

o   If you get behind in your class, you will need to come to RCAA in person the remainder of summer school.

·         Special Education and IEP modifications are NOT available during summer school

Did you know?!  You can start applying for college scholarships early?

A high school senior in New Orleans recently broke the national college scholarship record!

16-year-old high school senior, Dennis Barnes, has been offered over $9 million in scholarships and been accepted to over 125 colleges and universities.

Barnes’ advice for high school students preparing for college and scholarships is “to be vigilant. The road to a successful future is to plan ahead, network with the collegiate partners, and know that if you can see your vision, you can achieve your goal.”
